Privacy Policy
Effective July 16, 2026
PiqlPlay (“PiqlPlay,” “we,” “us”) is a community app that pickleball facilities use to connect their players — surfacing sessions and games, powering ratings and kudos, and helping members find their people at the club. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the PiqlPlay mobile app or website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account information
- Email address, which you verify with a one-time code we send you. PiqlPlay does not use or store account passwords.
1.2 Profile information you provide
- First and last name
- Phone number (optional)
- Skill level and, where available, ratings such as a self-rating or a facility-assigned rating
- A profile photo or avatar, and any photos you choose to add
1.3 Information from your pickleball facility
PiqlPlay works with pickleball facilities that manage their memberships in CourtReserve. When your facility partners with PiqlPlay, we receive from CourtReserve the membership and play records the facility already keeps about you, which may include your name, email address, phone number, your booking and play history at the facility, and any skill ratings the facility has recorded for you.
We use this to set up your community at the facility so that when you first open PiqlPlay, your club and your play history are already there for you to claim. Your facility is the source of this information; if you have questions about the records it keeps, contact the facility directly. You can review, correct, or remove your PiqlPlay profile information at any time in the app, and you can delete your PiqlPlay account as described in Section 4.
1.4 Play activity and social data you create
- Check-ins at your facility, and the sessions and games you take part in.
- Ratings and kudos you give or receive, and the reputation those build within a community.
- Communities you join or create, friends and connections you make, and photos or notes you add.
1.5 Location — only at check-in
When you check in to a session, PiqlPlay uses your device location at that moment to confirm you are physically at the facility. We do not track your location in the background, we do not build a location history, and we do not use location for any other purpose. You can decline or revoke the location permission in your device settings; if you do, you can still use PiqlPlay but may not be able to check in automatically.
1.6 Device and usage information
- Push notification token (used to deliver push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging and, on iOS, Apple Push Notification service).
- Standard log data such as IP address, device type, app version, and error reports, used to operate and debug the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account and profile.
- To connect you with your facility’s communities and surface sessions and games.
- To power ratings, kudos, and reputation within your communities.
- To confirm you are at the facility when you check in.
- To send the notifications you opt into — by push notification, by SMS (only if you opt in), and in the app.
- To send transactional messages such as sign-in codes and important account notices.
- To monitor, debug, and improve the service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not share it with advertising networks.
3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 With other members at your facility
PiqlPlay is a community app, so other members of a community you join can see your profile information — your name, photo, and the ratings, kudos, and play reputation you have built at that facility. You control your profile and visibility settings in the app.
3.2 With your facility
Facilities that partner with PiqlPlay may see aggregate and member-level activity for their own communities, consistent with the membership relationship you already have with them.
3.3 Service providers
We share information with service providers that help us run the app, under contracts that limit how they may use it:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and backend functions.
- Twilio — delivers SMS invitations and notifications.
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Apple (Push Notification service) — deliver push notifications.
- Vercel — hosts the PiqlPlay website.
3.4 Legal and safety
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is required by law, a subpoena, or other legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of PiqlPlay, our users, or others.
3.5 Business transfers
If PiqlPlay is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you (e.g. by email or an in-app notice) of any such change in control.
4. Your Choices
- Edit or remove profile information at any time in the app under Profile and Settings.
- Control your visibility to other members in Settings.
- Push notifications can be turned off in Settings or in your device’s notification settings.
- SMS notifications can be turned off in Settings, or by replying
STOPto any SMS we send. - Location permission can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
- Export your data or delete your account in Settings. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, subject to limited retention for legal and accounting purposes.
4.1 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to know what categories of personal information we collect. We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
4.2 EU, UK, and EEA residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (running your account and the service), consent (SMS opt-in, location at check-in, push notifications), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and improving it. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and port your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest in our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it longer for legal or accounting reasons.
7. Children’s Privacy
PiqlPlay is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Users
PiqlPlay is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date at the top, and for material changes we will provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or an email to the address on your account).
